Hey, Extremites, you’ve probably noticed a drop off in posts recently.
There’s a few reasons for this. I have been busy with my non-blog life, doing some new contracts around Canada and I am gearing up for a big move to the UK, aside from some health difficulties in the last month.
Anyway, all this means that Extremis needs some new writers. If you are interested in joining our roster, note our mandate is write literate articles about fan related topics.
If interested in joining send me a 500 word article about what you’d like to write for us and we’ll go from there.
Send it to, email@example.com in word, PDF or pages format.
My best, Extremites,
Julian Munds – Editor-in-Chief for the Extremis Review.
I know, I know. You were expecting a Shitty Moffatism today.
Well… Writer’s block happened. I wanted to make the article as best I could so sadly, I must admit that, it will be a couple days late.
In the mean time, check out this buzzfeed! It asks the timely question, and perhaps stupid question, What If Doctor Who Was An American Creation? It then imagines what the show may have been like by expostulating fairly accurate american approximations of the iconic actors who played the role.
Read it and hopefully this will keep you warm while I finish the next article.
Until next time, Extremites, I remain: Julian Munds
Kudos for you who saw this coming (and my condolences to those still hoping that it would be Agent Coulson). Today, it has been announced that Paul Bettany will be playing The Vision in the upcoming Avengers movie: Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron. For those unfamiliar with Bettany, you may have seen him in films such as The DaVinci Code, A Beautiful Mind, and A Knight’s Tale. But he isn’t new to the realm of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, since he’s also the voice of Tony Stark’s armor AI, JARVIS.
I feel this is a logical approach for introducing The Vision for the Marvel movies, since JARVIS has been part of the MCU since Iron Man 1. Also, Bettany has the chops to pull off the wall-phasing android. If you agree or disagree, let us know in the comments.
I’ve been away from proper blogging for awhile as my computer has been on the fritz. That being said, I will be returning to proper blogging shortly but first, here’s some news and a trailer for the upcoming Marvel Cartoons.
Where as Marvel has a stranglehold on the cinematic medium, when it comes to cartoons, DC blows old Lee’s work out of the water.
For some reason, Marvel continues to try and compete with DC at animated movies. I never watched that Iron Man/Hulk team-up, but I understand it was an abomination fit only for stupid children. Welp, Marvel is trying again with the laboriously named Marvel’s Avengers Confidential: Black Widow and Punisher.
It looks maybe OK. I like the anime idea, maybe. It’s hard to say at this point. The trailer doesn’t really show much. The story is that Punisher gets taken into SHIELD custody after he interferes in a mission. From there, Punisher and Black Widow get sent on a new mission to take down some bad guys named Leviathan. It sounds about as cheesy as that Iron Man/Hulk team-up. And clearly it’s not based on any existing comic book. So really…what the heck is Marvel thinking?
This is now entirely a possibility as Agents of SHIELD has established Coulson as a major player in the goings on of the near mortals. Even much more so then his prior involvement in the films.
It’s common knowledge that, one way or another, Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) got better after apparently snuffing it in the first Avengers flick, and is now alive and well and starring in Marvel‘s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series….But where does Nerddom’s favorite soft-spoken spook stand regarding the upcoming sequel, Avengers: Age Of Ultron?
Well, let’s see what The Whedonizer said when WPRI asked if Coulson would return:
“He could. Right now it’s not something I’m pursuing because I have so much going on in Avengers 2. Finding out that Coulson is alive would be an entire B story. And I already have too much movie. That’s better than the other thing.”
According to the info revealed at SDCC, The Avengers don’t have the security clearance to know that Coulson is still among the living, so it would take a bit of doing to shoehorn…

This is a great article giving the run down on the problems and benefits of the possible upcoming Sony film.

So I was online looking up movie news like I usually do and I came across a rumor stating that Fox is looking to have a shared movie universe between the X-men franchise and the Fantastic Four Franchise and that they already have the story they are looking to use. The report that came from the The Motley Fool states this:
“Fox owns the rights to the Fantastic Four and the X-Men characters, who are among the most well-known comic book heroes of all time. After multiple movies in their respective franchises, Fox has now decided to combine the Fantastic Four and the X-Men for an “Avengers”-style movie that could pay off huge for shareholders.”
“Based on a 1987 four issue comic called Fantastic Four vs. X-Men, the movie will see the characters against each other because of secrets regarding the Fantastic Four’s origin.”
Ok now here’s my thoughts, with…

I agree with most of what was said in this article. And I’d like to throw my hat in the ring saying this is a bad idea.

Ever since the monumental success of Marvel’s The Avengers movie – to the tune of 1.5 billion dollars – all of the other studios are scrambling to make team-up movies as well. Because when something succeeds in Hollywood, everyone else wants to do that exact thing (hence the 3D craze). The sequel to Man of Steel is now going to feature both Batman and Wonder Woman, with rumors of even more Justice League cameos.
But making even less sense is the desire of FOX Studios to put their X-Men and rebooted Fantastic Four franchises into a shared universe. I may just be another nerd angrily ranting on the Internet, but I have zero interest in this coming to pass.
First of all, this reeks of studio manipulation, and I don’t like studio manipulations. Marvel and Disney pulled off a masterstroke combining their Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Hulk…
